In 2013, millions of Doctor Who fans around the world celebrated the series' 50th anniversary. Were you one of them?
</P><P>
Capital City Entertainment, a London based film and theatre production company, has today announced plans to release on DVD and VOD on 27 January 2014, Who's Changing: An Adventure In Time With Fans, a new documentary about the changing face of fandom of the world's longest running science fiction series, Doctor Who, featuring new and exclusive interviews with many stars from the show past and present.
</P><P>
From the first ever Doctor Who convention, through the wilderness years and to cosplayers at the conventions of today, Who's Changing looks at how and why the nature of Doctor Who's fans changed as mainstream interest in the show took hold.
</P><P>
Who's Changing features interviews with many familiar faces from the show such as Louise Jameson (Leela), Sophie Aldred (Ace), Simon Fisher-Becker (Dorium Maldovar), Neve McIntosh (Madame Vastra), Catrin Stewart (Jenny Flint), Caitlin Blackwood (Amelia Pond), Dan Starkey (Commander Strax) as well as faces from behind the scenes such as script editors Gary Russell and Eric Saward and scriptwriters Andrew Smith (Doctor Who, Full Circle), Jane Espenson (Torchwood: Miracle Day, Buffy, Battlestar Galactica) and James Moran (Doctor Who, The Fires of Pompeii).
</P><P>
Plus, from the world of comic books, Who's Changing also features Tony Lee, Simon Furman, Dan Slott, Richard Dinnick, Richard Starkings and Josh Adams.
</P><P>
The film was shot over many months in 2013, the year of Doctor Who's 50th anniversary, at events around the UK such as MCM Comic Con, London Super Comic Con and the Doctor Who conventions, Big Blue Box 2 and Return to the 11th Hour. The filmmakers also filmed many fans in some incredible Doctor Who inspired costumes at these events.
</P><P>
Director Cameron K. McEwan says: "I've loved Doctor Who all my life and some of my earliest memories are of Doctor Who, and it was great to meet and interview so many people who felt the same. From actors to writers to fans, the love for the show comes over in abundance. It's an amazing journey from the start of fandom to where it is now - a genuinely fascinating story from hugely entertaining characters."
</P><P>
The DVD release also includes exclusive DVD-only extras with extended interviews with Louise Jameson, Sophie Aldred, Neve McIntosh, Simon Fisher-Becker and Dan Starkey.
</P><P>
Who's Changing will be available to buy on DVD from Amazon as well as specialist cult TV and sci-fi retailers such as Forbidden Planet, Galaxy 4, The Who Shop, StarTrader, The Cinema Store and WhoOne, priced at £12.99 RRP as well as being available to stream online on VOD from the official website at www.whoschanging.co.uk priced at £.3.49.

Doctor Who has entertained fans for five decades. Many fans who have grown up watching the show in their youth have even ended up working on the series in some capacity. For example, actor Peter Capaldi, recently announced as the Twelfth Doctor, is a self-confessed fan and famously wrote to the producers as a teenager. Writer and author Cameron K. McEwan (aka Doctor Who blogger <a href="http://www.twitter.com/blogtorwho">@BlogtorWho</a>) has teamed up with filmmakers Elisar Cabrera and Jack Ayers to produce a <a href="http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/who-s-changing-a-documentary-about-50-years-of-doctor-who-fans/x/475482">new documentary</a> on how fandom has changed since the series came back in 2005. There have been many documentaries about Doctor Who but this unique one by Capital City Entertainment is about the fans themselves and its changing face over the years.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Nw5H6IT5YNk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</p>
<P>
The film is already in production and several familiar faces to Doctor Who fandom have agreed to appear in it. Interviews have been recorded with former companions: Sophie Aldred (Ace), Louise Jameson (Leela), Caitlin Blackwood (Amelia Pond); recurring characters, Neve McIntosh (Madame Vastra), Catrin Stewart (Jenny), Dan Starkey (Strax) and Simon Fisher-Becker (Dorium Maldovar); writers James Moran (“The Fires of Pompeii”), Jane Espenson (“Torchwood: Miracle Day”) and Andrew Smith (“Full Circle”); former Doctor Who script editors Gary Russell and Eric Saward; comic writers Tony Lee (IDW Doctor Who), Simon Furman (Doctor Who Magazine strips and Transformers), Dan Slott (Spiderman) and Richard Starkings (Elephantmen); and many more including many Doctor Who fans who have been filmed at various conventions around the country.
</p>
<P>
The production team chose to bypass traditional documentary film funding avenues and intend to raise their final production and film release costs for their film on crowdfunding platform <a href="http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/who-s-changing-a-documentary-about-50-years-of-doctor-who-fans/x/475482">Indiegogo.com</a>, a website where contributors can donate to creative projects and good causes in exchange for “perks”.
</P>
<P>
"We wanted to keep this film 100% independently produced and distributed as we have always said through the production process this film is 'by fans for fans',” said co-director Elisar Cabrera.
</p>

The Indiegogo campaign can be found at <a href="http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/who-s-changing-a-documentary-about-50-years-of-doctor-who-fans/x/475482">http://igg.me/at/whoschanging</a>
</p>
<P>
“As well as offering the standard perk of a free DVD, we thought we'd offer other perks that help bring Doctor Who fans together in this film. So, we have one perk that offers the chance to see edited clips before the release as well as a perk that gives fans a chance to contribute to the film their own photo memories of being a fan,” said co-director Cameron K. McEwan.</P>Elisar Cabrerahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11433082892193911483noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5477547123058035943.post-41554334504188909722013-04-25T01:44:00.000-07:002013-08-05T01:45:15.764-07:00Talking Who Ep 43 - Reviews of Hide and The Robots of Death<P>

Jenna-Louise Coleman has beaten hundreds of hopefuls to become the new companion to Doctor Who, it was announced today by Steven Moffat.</div>
<div class="sections">

Twenty-five year old Jenna from Blackpool will star alongside the 11th Time Lord, Matt Smith, to mark the biggest year in the show’s history.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
Best known for her roles in Emmerdale (Jasmine Thomas) and Waterloo Road (Lindsay James), Jenna will replace Karen Gillan when she and Arthur Darvill bow out of the show in a heartbreaking departure after one final series of rollercoaster voyages later this year on BBC One.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
Jenna says: "I'm beyond excited, I can't wait to get cracking; working alongside Matt I know is going to be enormous fun and a huge adventure."</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
The Doctor will meet his new friend in a dramatic turn of events as the show builds towards its enormous, climactic 50th anniversary year - full of thrills, adventures and big surprises. Series seven is currently filming and comprises 14 big, blockbuster-movie episodes - each a brand new epic adventure featuring new monsters and some familiar foes as you've never seen them before.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
Lead writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat, says: "It always seems impossible when you start casting these parts, but when we saw Matt and Jenna together, we knew we had our girl. She's funny and clever and exactly mad enough to step on board the TARDIS.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
"It's not often the Doctor meets someone who can talk even faster than he does, but it's about to happen. Jenna is going to lead him his merriest dance yet. And that's all you're getting for now. Who she's playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor's standards, this isn't your usual boy meets girl."</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
Danny Cohen, Controller, BBC One, adds "As we approach Doctor Who's 50th anniversary it's great to welcome a new companion to the TARDIS. I feel confident the Doctor will look after her in his own very unique style."</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.22; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 1px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;">
In 2011 Jenna made her big screen debut in Captain America: The First Avenger and is soon to star as Annie Desmond in ITV1’s Titanic. She has just finished filming on Stephen Poliakoff's Dancing On The Edge for BBC Two.</div>
